Dog Days of Summer

The "dog days of summer" is a reference to those sultry summer days. Hot and hazy afternoons I will soon miss so badly. Can you believe tomorrow is September 1st?! Not that I can really complain - I've had the most amazing summer jam-packed full of festivals, concerts, travels, and more travels. While still currently soaking up the last of the season's rays in South Carolina, it's already Labour Day weekend, marking the last long weekend of the summer.

And what does Labour Day mean? SALES ON SALES. Be sure to read til' the end of this post for some of this year's best online shopping Labour Day sales. But first, here's a peek at what I've been up to in these last few sultry South Carolina days.

Holy Knit

In Cabo, we had the most ethereal, perfect West Coast sunsets. With the turquoise tropical waters and landscape view of the rocks at Land's End, it's a hard sunset to beat.

Like a lot of swimwear fanatics, my obsession with Triangl Swimwear is real. The suits are made of neoprene, like wetsuits are, and while the thickness of the material takes some getting used to, they feel solid and like they will last a LONG time. I'm wearing the Chloe bikini in New York Noir. This suit has a leather-like texture and appearance to it, but yet it's so comfortable! Though, the true star of this evening beach-walk outfit is the oversized beach Tape Yarn Knit Sweater from Free People.

Picked up this rose gold shark tooth necklace from a boutique in Hawaii. Get a similar one HERE or HERE!

Lands End

Down on the West Coast, at the very southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, meets the great Pacific and the Sea of Cortez. I spent the past week in the little Mexican city of Cabo San Lucas eating far too many quesadillas and guac, trying to hide from the scorching hot sun (unsuccessful), and drinking my body weight in piña coladas. It was just the best.

We stayed at the beautiful all-inclusive resort Hotel Riu Palace

Adorned in my beloved Flash Tattoos

I could live off coconuts forever. Amazing coconut shrimp dish

In love with my asymmetrical maxi beach dress from Sisley

My absolute highlight of the trip was dining at the Sunset Da Mona Lisa restaurant. Rated 4th best restaurant view in the world, you'll see why... stay tuned for a post!

One of my favourite GoPro snaps of the week taken while parasailing

Keep an eye out for upcoming Cabo outfit posts and more trip highlights! Have a wonderful week!

BHNV x Boathouse 2

Introducing part two of my incredible opportunity working with Boathouse stores to preview their Fall 2014 apparel (catch my first post HERE). In case you missed it, I was given the exclusive privilege of being able to style the upcoming Fall 2014 apparel, accessories, and footwear coming to Boathouse stores. I love both of these outfits for something I would wear for back to school. I like to keep a feminine element with all my outfits and I love the aztec prints on both this tank and the second outfit's dress.

Outfit #1

I loved this flirty exposed zipper skirt by Vans which I paired with the Wondering Love tank by Billabong. I tend to gravitate towards cooler, darker colours in the Fall and Winter, but like how the little pops of colour on the T-Shirt & Jeans purse go with the print and tones of the rest of the outfit. Last but not least, Vans authentic Lo-Pro sneakers are my absolute go-to everyday casual shoe.

Shirt: Billabong - Wondering Love Tank
Cardi: Element - Native Long Sleeve Cardigan
Skirt: Vans - Webster Exposed Zipper Skirt

Purse: T-Shirt & Jeans
Shoes: Vans - Authentic Lo Pro

Outfit #2

How awesome is the print of this Rebel Rogue dress?! Coupled with the fact that it's the most comfortable easy to wear dress makes it top of my must-have list from Boathouse. As the cooler weather rolls in for us Canadians, I always have a staple button-up with me. This denim Melissa button-down is just my style.

Dress: Rebel Rogue - Cassie Print Skater Dress
Denim Shirt: Melissa - Dylan Button Down

Watch: Nixon - Kensington
Boots: DLG Kicks

Working with Boathouse on previewing their Fall 2014 collection was such a privilege and fun opportunity. I'm so ready for all the layering, knit sweaters and cardigans. Find these amazing pieces in Boathouse stores and online soon!
